How We're Different
The Millis Institute is unique in Australia. We offer a different degree with a different approach for a different purpose. The Institute fills the gap in Queensland for a comprehensive, accredited liberal arts degree that educates from a Christian worldview perspective, promotes a theology of calling, and demonstrates how various disciplines shed light on each other. As part of their degree, our students can also choose to participate in a 5-week intensive at the University of Oxford.
The Millis Institute’s curriculum immerses students into the achievements of thought and culture in the Western tradition, and especially the Christian influence on that tradition.
Rather than lectures and exams, students participate
in discussion-based seminars.
Rather than textbooks, students primarily engage the
great works of the Western intellectual heritage.
Rather than blindly accepting Western thought and culture,
students critically evaluate it from a Christian perspective.
Rather than just reading authors, students learn to participate
actively in their conversations and rehearse their arguments.
